Generally, Lithuanian labour laws are still conservative, and an employee can be fired only for a very good reason. By reason of the Lithuanian law, if an employment contract has been terminated unlawfully, a person shall be deemed as being employed for the entire period while termination of the employment contact has been challenged, and the emplyee may claim full salary for this period. This is the reason why employers often seek to achieve an amicable solution regarding termination of employment contracts instead of dismissing employees even when they did not perform or there were other good reasons to dismiss that person.
