Minister of the Interior by 11 December 2020 Order 1V-1308 "On the Restoration of Citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania" pursuant to Article 9 and point 2 of Article 32 of the Law on Citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania decided to restore citizenship to a law firm ‘s client, the granddaughter of the Lithuanian (currently based in the USA), who was being proudly assisted by The law firm during the citizenship restoration procedure.
Lithuanian citizenship is restored for persons who held Lithuanian citizenship before 15th June 1940 and left the Republic of Lithuania due to the danger of persecution before 11th March 1990, as well as for their descendants, not applying the procedure of the renouncement of the citizenship already held.
If any of a person's ancestors, parents, grandparents, grand-grandparents were born in Lithuania, that person may be eligible to obtain a Lithuanian (EU) passport.
